Entrance examination Mass Media and Communication Science

The admission to this programme is possible only if you successfully participate in the entrance examination and fulfil all requirements for admission to a bachelor programme at the University of Vienna.

If you do not have proficiency in German at level B1 or higher, please read the information about proficieny in German and about the entrance procedure carefully.

The entrance procedure at a glance

The written entrance examination does not take place

Fewer prospective students have registered for the academic year 2017/18 than places are available. Thus the written entrance examination does not take place. All registered people, that fulfil the requirements for the admission to a bachelor degree programme at the University of Vienna and have registered for the entrance examination, can be admitted.

It is not necessary to finish the Online-Self-Assessment (OSA).

 

Personal Admission

 

Admission with a secondary school leaving certificate issued by a non-EU/EEA country

The Admission Office requires several weeks for the processing of your documents. You will receive a notification by e-mail about the admission to the degree programme. If you receive a positive admission letter you can be admitted. Due to organisatory reasons it is not possible to inform you about the status of your application. Please be patient.

 

Admission with a secondary school leaving certificate issued by a country of the EU/EEA

 

Step 1: Completion of documents in u:space

If not done already, upload your secondary school leaving certificate and/or your proof of proficiency in German as a pdf in u:space. Please note, that we need all pages of your documents.

 

Step 2: Personal admission

Once you uploaded all your documents completely, you have to come personally to the Admission Office from 3 July until 30 November 2017, where your admission will be finished. You have to come in person, as your identity has to be checked.

Finish this step as early as possible to prevent stress during the start of the semester.

The following documents are required either as original or notarised copy for the admission:

  • Passport or personal ID
  • Secondary school leaving certificate/Diploma of a completed degree programme
  • Proof of proficiency in German
  • Passport photograph for the student ID card (has fulfil EU norm requirements)
  • Your e-card (if you have insurance in Austria)

 

Step 3: Payment of the tuition/students' union fee via

  • ATM card (Maestrocard) directly at the counter of the Admission Office,
  • eps online banking,
  • online banking,
  • or payment form.

Without exception payment in cash or by credit card is not possible!

 

Step 4: Registration for courses

In most of the degree programmes registration for courses is only possible before the semester starts. Therefore we recommend to finish the admission procedure in July or August.
