The interdisciplinary master’s programme in Ethics for Teachers and Professionals at the University of Vienna aims at imparting basic subject-specific didactic knowledge and competences, enabling students to reflect on ethical problems and conflicts in a variety of areas of professional life, society and education and contribute to solving them. It is a contemporary and necessary general educational goal to deal with ethical questions in an adequate and academically oriented manner. To achieve this goal, an appropriate form of education at schools is required.

The master’s programme consists of the following modules: Basic Module; Group of elective modules: Areas of Ethics (Politics and Law; Life and Health; Media and Technology; Religions and Cultures; Economy and Ecology); Alternative compulsory modules (Ethics in Educational Contexts, or education and learning); Individual Electives; Graduation Phase (seminar, master’s thesis, master’s examination).
