Your steps in the entrance exam procedure

Step 1: Online-Self-Assessment (OSA)

Complete the Online-Self-Assessement within the registration period. It is the first step of the entrance exam procedure and serves the purpose of assessing for yourself the choice of study programme. You do not need to prepare for it, it will not be graded and is not relevant for the ranking of allocation for study places.

After the completion of the OSA, you will receive the "OSA-code" via e-mail. If you register with an e-mail adress it will be saved in a central database.

Step 2: Registration and application for admission to a degree programme

Activate your u:account in u:space during the registration period. You will need this account during your studies at the University of Vienna. Log in to u:space, choose the degree programme and upload each of the required documents as one single pdf-file.

Enter the OSA-code. If you use the same e-mail address you used for the OSA, it will be there automatically.

Then click "Pay and submit". Pay the examination fee of Euro 50 via credit card or eps online payment (only possible if you have an Austrian bank account).

As soon as the status of your application is “submitted” in u:space under "My applications" the application has reached the University of Vienna and you are registered to participate in the entrance exam procedure. This status does not change anymore!

You will receive a confirmation of registration via e-mail. Please check the spam folder of your mailbox frequently and add the e-mail address of the University of Vienna to your address book, so you do not miss any important information. A few days after the end of the registration period, you will receive notice if the written exam will take place.

Step 3: The written entrance exam

At least 14 days before the written entrance exam you will receive a personal invitation by e-mail. This will contain information about the exact schedule for the entrance exam. Without this invitation letter you may not participate in it. Please save the whole day for the written entrance exam and if you come from abroad travel at least the day before.

The pure working time for the exam will be 2.0 hours.

At the end of the exam you will be informed about the further steps. Around 14 days after the exam the results as well as information about your further steps will be sent via e-mail as well.

Step 4: After the result

The admission to the degree programme is possible after the announcement of the results if you have been successful in the entrance exam procedure and fulfil all requirements for the admission to a bachelor programme at the University of Vienna.
